Minimotos -

07-June-060After numerous requests from Minimoto riders asking to use the tarmac oval to ride on, we are now in a position to offer the circuit for practice purposes.

There  will be a Minimoto riders meeting this Saturday 16th June at Onchan Stadium starting at 6pm.

This meeting is open to anyone interested in Minimoto riding.

Please do not bring along any Minimotos, we would like to hear your views, requests and gauge the level of interest.

Our aim is to provide a safe place for Minimoto riding to take place, in a controlled environment, the track will be marshalled, with the riders bikes and safety equipment scrutineered before being allowed onto the track.

If enough interest is shown Minimoto practice sessions will be organised to take place one evening a week starting in the near future.

Cotact John Whitehead on 629446 or 432232 for more details.

Minimoto Endurance event - 16-Dec.

The second Minimoto endurance event was held last Sunday (16-Dec) at Onchan Raceway in dry but very cold conditions.

The assembled riders were divided into five teams with team managers allocated to oversee the riders.

Tension rose as the event start time approached with each team discussing tactics and strategy, rules of the event required each rider to complete a minimum of 25 laps of the 400 metre technical course during the 1 hour event, with only one rider from each team allowed on track at a time.

Every  lap completed by each rider was added to their respective teams score. The totals were all very close at the finish, only one lap separated the 2nd and 3rd teams.

The White team managed by Dave Purves consisted of Peter Copley and newcomers Callum Purves and Ryan Preston  both making their track debuts rode well to complete 80 laps.

The Orange team consisting of Iain Clague who both managed and rode with sons Jake and Colin completed 81 laps, a good effort with Iain having had no practice before the event.

Third overall was the Red team managed by Alan Samuels with riders Tim Venables, Lillie Samuels and Geoff Robinson completing 88 laps.

Second overall was the Yellow team managed by Stuart Harvey, riders Ryan Kneen, Cai Illingworth and Ryan Forgie completing 89 laps.

Overall winners were the Blue team managed by Dave Madey his riders Ozzy Madey, Alex Hollingsworth and Sam Saunders completed a total of 92 laps
